June 2011: Back to Catalonia

Vis Barcelona and Catalonia on Enjoy Food & Travel i et større kart

I have spent time in Catalonia Spain from annually from 2006, and I will return to spend a sunny week in the Barcelona area at the beginning of July. This time we will spend the entire week in the coastal resort of Sitges, south of the Catalonian capital.

Barcelona, Spain, is one of my favourite destinations. The area around this vibrant cosmopolitan city has so much to offer. The coastal climate provides a gentle ocean breeze, even during the hottest periods of summer, and when you are tired of swimming in its warm waters, you can go exploring all the sights of Barcelona.

The architecture spans over 1000 years, and its history goes back another thousand years. You may wander through the narrow streets of the Barri Gotic, the medieval quarters, or admire the organic buildings of Gaudi, and in particular the Sagrada Familia, the gigantic cathedral that may never be finished.

The city is also a major gastronomic hub. Enjoy traditional or basque tapas, or visit Els Quatres Gats, the favourite restaurant of Pablo Picasso, Santiago Rusiñol i Prats, Miquel Utrillo and sculptor Julio González.

We will stay at Hotel Port Sitges Resort situated in the heart of Puerto d'Aiguadolç in Sitges, just 50 meters from the beach. The Port Sitges hotel offers:
“48 rooms, all with terrace and seaview to the beach, with lounge and separate bedroom, full bathroom, heating and air conditioning, kitchenette, satellite TV, telephone and safe. Wi-Fi throughout the building. 25m swimming pool, Jacuzzi, Sauna and Solarium. Cafeteria and Restaurant. Large terrace overlooking the harbor"
O, what joy!! I will give an introduction to the hotel closer to our departure.

I cannot wait to get back to share more stories from Sitges and Barcelona as experienced during July 2011.
