NEW: Sunlink starts sailings Oslo - Fredrikshavn July 2010

- but Danish and Norwegian authorities are still not informed

(Source: Aftenposten, June 15th 2010) The Danish company Sunlink will start sailing from Oslo to Frederikshavn from July 1st. The funny thing is that we know, but Danish and Norwegian maritime safety authorities have not yet heard anything from the ferry company. So SunLink will have to hurry up to get its papers in order!!

Well that is, at least what was told a few days ago, so Sunlink may have grasped the urgency and handed in the important necessary papers to the authorities by now.

From the Adriatic Sea to Kattegat

Sunlink has chartered M/S Arberia currently crossing the Adriatic Sea between Bari and Trieste, and will, if red tape is in order, start sailings between Oslo and Frederikshavn from July. It can take 1300 passengers in 750 cabins and hold up to 250 cars.

Swedish Stena Lie has, since Color Line decided to concentrate on their superspeed ferries from Larvik and Kristiansand to Hirtshals, been the only company on this crossing. The Swedish company is confident that their long experience will mean that they will withstand the competition from Sunlink.

May the best company win!
